Cancun is amazing! I am truly in paradise. We opted in for the all-you-can-eat-and-drink option at our resort, so it’s endless food at the restaurants and buffets, tropical fruit all day, and too many mango daiquiris and pina coladas to count. Kidding- I’ve only had a few since I’ve been here because I’d rather eat my calories than drink them. The seafood is great. For lunch today I had a seafood cocktail, seafood soup, and grilled snapper smothered in heavenly garlic sauce. Then I had a 7 course dinner, with my favorites being shrimp scampi and dark chocolate fondant. I spent the day bouncing from poolside to beach to jacuzzi bar, getting quite a bit of reading done since my favorite activity is lying in the shade on the beach with a book. Meanwhile, servers wound around asking if we needed any food or drink. I literally did not have to move at all today, though I did spend over an hour at the gym working up an appetite for that dinner. Also, there are a lot of sexy people here. When I get back, I really need to stop bullshitting and get my health in order.

I am so lucky to be here. My parents are great.

I can’t believe we got to go to Chichen Itzu, which I learned about in Spanish class years ago but never thought I would visit. Ruins over 1000 years old! How cool! To our surprise, Mayans and East and Southeast Asians have similar facial features. We even share some surnames, like Chen.

I realize that this gluttonous paradise-living is going to end soon, and I am kind of ready to be back in Berkeley. But not really. More papaya, pina coladas, and beach walks!
