Thanksgiving break has been ridiculous. I don’t even know how my digestive system is still okay. I wolfed down four giant persimmons and a kiwi just now. And a handful of chocolate truffles, a few shrimp dumplings- no big deal. Still hungry, can’t wait for dinner. Whatever “healthy” diet I was on before went down the drain, but I am totally content right now. Food is so important in my family; I don’t know if I will ever be able to eat “healthy” around them, but it sure does feel good. 

Thanksgiving dinner was a nice mixture of Chinese and everything else. I felt like I had a weight in my stomach all through the next day. I know I’ve missed a few sides, but from what I remember:

  • One turkey, roasted
  • One turkey, smoked
  • Crepes with green onion and hoisin sauce
  • Red cooked pork
  • Shrimp ceviche
  • Cranberry-orange sauce
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Pumpkin fried rice
  • Chives with turkey giblets
  • Stuffed cremini mushrooms
  • Garlic-roasted cauliflower
  • Hot and sour soup
  • Roasted red bell pepper
  • Vegetable medley with bamboo shoots, tofu, carrots, lotus root, mushrooms, etc.
  • Pumpkin pie 
  • Pumpkin bread
  • Baklava
  • Chocolate and mint chip cookies
  • Rice cakes with red beans

Favorites: turkey giblets, stuffed mushrooms, baklava (I made the latter two :) - success!)
