Girl Scouts knocked at the door. They definitely got a lot of business. Dear lord what have I done?
On the other hand, are we all getting more athletic? I got five other people to do Insanity with me this evening, which was hilarious as we jumped around the living room. Earlier, the boys went weightlifting together, which was the cutest thing ever. Then there was post-dinner soccer practice for...
Something pretty traumatizing happened to me recently. While I’ve told several people about it, at the same time I feel like I’ve told no one about it. And I certainly can’t blog about it. I’m pretty uncomfortable with my situation right now.
Uh, that was vague. I need to stop feeling down and forget about it. Or be mature. Or just forget about it and focus my energies on...
Dinner!…was late because we’re so fancy.
Spanikopita (phyllo, spinach, feta, oregano, parsley, eggs, lemon, butter butter butter)
Grilled salmon and mahi mahi (lemon, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, pepper, olive oil)
Swiss and red chard (red onion, garlic, thyme)
Pan-fried daikon cakes (Sriracha, garlic, paprika, oregano, thyme, breadcrumbs)
Baked beans
Kale salad
Butter tarts...
A Week's Diet
I’m required to log my dietary intake for the rest of the semester and just finished my first week’s worth which I’m posting. While I’m glad that it is better than it has ever been in college (most meals are homemade), I definitely recognize the huge room for improvement. My love for processed foods is so hard to contain. I’m going to try really hard to limit the...
So if I haven’t mentioned this before, I’ve become very interested in the way our bodies react to the shit we do to ourselves. If I could go back and pick up nutri-sci as a second major, I would. But for now, I’ve been training and eating to get healthier. It’s working because I feel a lot better. I’m even reluctant to drink nowadays. Though I do.
Yesterday during...
Dinner took way too long.
Roasted turkey with garlic, rosemary, oregano, basil
Quiche with spinach, mushroom, tomato
Creamed cauliflower and peas
Mashed potatoes
Kale salad
Red velvet cupcakes for the birthday boy
And that was my first turkey roasting experience. It’s easier than I thought, but I have yet to make stuffing.
Full moon, so most of us went to the roof for some howling. I...
I might have successfully navigated my last ever room to room party last night (no puke, no kisses), although I did get in an argument with my barely love interest. I don’t know, whatever. I’ve never been good at room to rooms, and I’m tired of being twisted around by him. Onward!
I’m supposed to be eating clean, but the other day I decided that it just had to be Paula Deen day. So I fried chicken fingers and eggplant fritters and chicken wings for forty people and it was awesome. My new partner, who definitely loves meat and fried things less than I do, made mushroom quinoa, black beans with bell peppers, and teriyaki salad while I was busy double breading every...

My semester is coming together, kind of. I’m taking under the minimum number of units like a slacker, have a cool internship lined up, have a few interviews coming up (although I’m not so excited about any of the jobs), and have committed to max interval training for the rest of the semester. I’m also cooking for the house again, taking a surprisingly difficult yoga class, and...
Back to cooking dinner!
Pan fried mahi mahi: honey, maple syrup, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, ginger, garlic, salt, black pepper
Quinoa with button mushrooms, carrots, bell pepper, yellow onion, salt, I don’t remember
Green beans with mushrooms, tofu, maple syrup, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, salt
Salad with tahini lemon dressing
Bread pudding
I spend way too much time in the...
I just made myself a really tasty stir fry. I think this one tops all the other stir fries I’ve made. I always end up making either salad or stir fry or a combination of the two for lunch because that’s all I have time for on most days.
Olive oil
Leftover quinoa cooked in vegetable stock
Red cabbage
Red bell pepper
Carrot
Button mushroom
Spinach
Broccoli
Yellow onion
Garlic
...
Exciting things for my semester:
Max interval training
Return to organic foods
Vinyasa yoga with a fantastic instructor
Wolf women’s circle
Internship in the City
Vagina Monologues
Expanding my repertoire to more healthy recipes, like vegan ice cream!
Tahoe retreat. I should probably aim to be less crazy this time around.
POP
Basically every weekend
Reducing alcohol consumption...
Got asked out by someone I was semi-involved with earlier last semester. Meanwhile, my neighbor was having sex and we could hear it. Awkward. Didn’t know how to tell him that I’ve been with someone else since November and would readily do it again- as in tomorrow, not because we have much to say to each other, but because it’s fun. Didn’t really occur to me. Tried to...
A friend’s recent breakup and subsequent bitch session have made me realize that 1) I don’t really tell anyone anything, which isn’t really bad but it’s not really good either, and 2) I have emotionally checked out for the past half year at least. Swell.
I’m back in Berkeley, moved into my new single though not really, a few pounds heavier no doubt, and apparently way tanner. School at 8am, oh boy! There is so much to do in the next few days…

Cancun is amazing! I am truly in paradise. We opted in for the all-you-can-eat-and-drink option at our resort, so it’s endless food at the restaurants and buffets, tropical fruit all day, and too many mango daiquiris and pina coladas to count. Kidding- I’ve only had a few since I’ve been here because I’d rather eat my calories than drink them. The seafood is great. For...
Today I went to a British pub, where real British men at the bar were talking about hanging out with the Queen. Who knew such a charming place was so close to home? I don’t think I’m a fan of British food though, especially Scotch eggs.
The holidays: a time to reconnect with ex-boyfriends!
I’ve met a lot of people from so many different backgrounds at Berkeley, something for which I’m truly thankful. Now I’m being nostalgic. Out of all these people I’ve met, I’ve made just a few great friends- very few, but very valuable. They’re not just party buddies or friends from clubs or classes or semesters abroad who drift away eventually. Freshman year...
My New Year’s celebrations were eventful. Love it.

Oh yeah, I got tickets to POP last week…
Probably going to run into a lot of people there, although at LovEvolution we didn’t because we were probably too drunk.
10 people in for Countdown. I foresee massive cuddle puddle. Or, you know, staying up till 7am by myself AS USUAL. Haha. So sad.
Here’s an easy recipe for fish stew. I found it online and made it sometime last...
Really Long Obligatory New Year's Post
Scattered thoughts!
2011 was much less dramatic than 2010. There was still drama, but I think I grew out of it because I was tired of crying over the same person for so long. I got my ass kicked in 2010, but in 2011 I kicked right back.
And then there was the kind of fun drama that is great for gossip. But this year the gossip involved me, which doesn’t really happen..ever. So that was...
I spent the last two or three hours compiling and editing recipes of dinners and desserts I’ve made this past year.
Everything is unhealthy because butter is delicious. I need to learn how to be a better cook or my kids are going to be obese.
Merry Christmas.
Today I bought a jug of sangria because I could. The cashier had to check her calculator to make sure I was 21. It never gets old.
My mom just baked a pecan pie! YESSSS.
The lack of powdered sugar in my house is making it really hard to come up with desserts to make.
I was wrapping my Christmas gifts and noticed that every single thing I bought is oddly-shaped. Basically all the misshapen...
Vegas was a blast. Our group was full of epic partiers. What the ridiculous. Great memories:
Three nights at Circus Circus and one at the Venetian
Playing Circus Circus games drunk
Winning a watermelon and a panda
Crying on the roller coaster
Drinking from a margarita football
Losing just a dollar on the slots
Being driven around in an Escalade
Hanging out with strippers
Partying at the...
Holy crap, I have never seen so many drugs in the span of two days, despite my stint in a ‘druggy’ house last year. It’s so funny because all these people are ridiculous and great and responsible and not really druggies at all. But there you are. Anyway, I just need to focus on this assignment so I can get the hell out of here! I’ll be back in two weeks.
Oh my god so many drugz coming out
Two more finals for me..
We’re going to try to squeeze upwards of 8 people into a shitty hotel room on New Year’s.
So either no one’s getting any action or everyone is getting some action. :) Kidding, I hope.
I made chocolate-covered peanut butter balls! So good! Everyone thinks I’m a stress baker/dessert maker, but at least we’ve got plenty of sweet treats.
Two more finals! Vegas on...
Boys!
When he walks into the room, my heart skips a beat and I get so excited. This hasn’t happened in awhile. Yet, I realized I don’t actually like him very much. We really don’t have much to talk about, and I usually have plenty to say to most people. What is it then? He is really good-looking and an excellent kisser. And he comes off as just asshole enough to attract a good number...
I sincerely believe that everyone needs a crazy period before settling down. Crazy can be however the individual defines it, as long as they feel like they’re pushing their boundaries. 2011 has been my craziest period by far. I have been both sensitive and an asshole, and along the way I’ve learned a lot. By being just a little sensitive and just a little asshole I was able to forgive...
I seriously think I would have better grades if I just took Adderall to study, because boy do I have a hard time focusing. Sometimes I just sway around my room with music blasting, and an hour goes by like nothing. But there’s something about using it to study that doesn’t seem right to me, which is weird because people all around me do it and I have no problem with that.
And...
Today I went to a photo shoot. :) Made my day.
I’m really stressed out about this paper! Ahh! I don’t think I’ve ever been this distracted though. All I can do is look up recipes, eat, have girl talk, and think about the mess in which I am unfortunately involved- though it is totally at least half my fault.
GAH.
A lot of stuff happened this past weekend. I was drunk for over eight hours for Special Dinner, and as a result a lot happened. I’m too lazy to elaborate and it is rather personal anyway. But it was a lot of fun, everyone looked beautiful, and the food was ridiculous. Thankfully, my lamb kebabs turned out well despite starting to marinate a day late.
And! I made cinnamon rolls with cream...
Weekend before having no life:
Thurs: Handing out my gifts to my fellow FemSexies! Presenting my empowerment project. Then off to the City for a yacht formal. I will try to be somewhat classy- forgot what that feels like.
Fri: Anna, Sjir, Robert, Alana, and Simone’s birthday parties! Ah!
Sat: Special Dinner, or toga party with ridiculous food. My lamb has not arrived yet and will not...

Okay, I think I’m just going to go to Countdown Massive for NYE.
Sat through elections speeches today for next semester. I got nominated for social manager but turned it down. Too much work- and I want to actually party at our parties.
Today I fried butternut squash coated with both flour and cornmeal, and it was surprisingly tasty! I also oregano’d the shit out of some beef...

I injure myself a lot when I dance alone in my room.
I really need to start making NYE plans!
Ah!
I should just stay home.
Thanksgiving break has been ridiculous. I don’t even know how my digestive system is still okay. I wolfed down four giant persimmons and a kiwi just now. And a handful of chocolate truffles, a few shrimp dumplings- no big deal. Still hungry, can’t wait for dinner. Whatever “healthy” diet I was on before went down the drain, but I am totally content right now. Food is so...
Happy Thanksgiving!
My mom has been planning this 20-something person dinner party. I think I will contribute stuffed mushrooms, garlic-roasted cauliflower, pumpkin cake, hopefully baklava, and maybe some sort of cookie (molasses? yogurt?). I really wanted to make something fancy schmancy, but we don’t have many of the spices that I’m used to having around. I went grocery shopping...
Cool things: Thanksgiving break at home with family, Vegas with friends, snowboarding with family, New Year’s Eve, Cancun!
I literally dedicated three hours to working out today. Core conditioning, swimming, P90X. I’m not allowed to eat carbs, but I do it anyway. :) But good thing my sassy gay friend is around to remind me about Cancun and keep me away from those ubiquitous cookies....
